"The Real Talk on Starting My Business: Mindset, Wobbles & Mental Fitness Wins"

Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat: starting a business is not all sunshine, spreadsheets and overnight success. It’s more like riding a rollercoaster while blindfolded, holding a coffee in one hand and your dreams in the other.

Yep. It's a lot.

When I started my business, I had this beautiful, buzzing vision in my heart. But let me tell you , my brain? Oh, she had thoughts. Loud, dramatic ones. From imposter syndrome to wild “what ifs”, my mindset had some serious growing up to do. And it’s still evolving. (Spoiler alert: the work never really stops, but that’s the good news!)

So in this blog, I want to take you behind the scenes, into the real mental headspace of building something from scratch, and the mental fitness tools that helped me go from self-doubt central to queen of my own lane 👑

The Wobbly Start: “Who Do You Think You Are?”

Ah, that old familiar voice, the inner critic. She's sneaky, isn’t she?

When I started dreaming big, that voice came marching in with a clipboard full of doubts:

  • “You’re not qualified enough.”

  • “Other people are doing it better.”

  • “What if you fail and everyone sees?”

Honestly? Some days I bought into it. I let that fear slow me down. I procrastinated. I overthought. I googled the same question 15 times looking for an answer I already knew deep down.

But somewhere in the noise, another voice quietly whispered, “But… what if it works?”And I decided that’s the voice I wanted to amplify.

Mental Fitness Tools That Kept Me Going

Here’s the truth: mindset isn’t a one-time decision. It’s a practice. It’s a daily choice to back yourself, especially when it would be easier to back out.

So I built myself a little toolkit, a mental fitness gym, if you will – and these are the tools that kept me grounded, focused, and moving forward:

🧠 Mindful Self-TalkI started paying close attention to the things I was saying to myself. and wow, some of it was savage. So I swapped the inner critic for an inner coach. She’s compassionate, honest, and also loves a good pep talk in the mirror.

💃 Movement and Energy ShiftsWhether it’s a walk in nature, a dance in the kitchen, or five minutes of deep breathing, moving my body helped shift my energy when I felt stuck in my head.

📝 Journaling and Belief WorkI dug into my beliefs like a mindset archaeologist. The ones that weren’t serving me? Gone. Replaced with new ones that sounded like, “I’m capable,” “I’m allowed to take up space,” and “I’m figuring it out, and that’s enough.”

💬 Emotional Intelligence MasteryI learned to feel my feelings without letting them hijack the whole day. Fear, self-doubt, overwhelm , they’re just signals. Not stop signs. Not truth. Just part of the ride.

From Fearful to Fierce (and Still Human)

The biggest shift I’ve had?

I stopped waiting to feel ready and started learning how to act brave.

I gave myself permission to show up imperfectly. I let myself try things, get things wrong, and still keep going. And the more I did that, the more my confidence grew. Not because everything magically got easier, but because I got mentally stronger.

If you’re reading this and dreaming of starting something, whether it’s a business, a passion project, a total life pivot, I want you to know this:

You don’t need to be fearless. You just need to be willing.

Willing to show up messy. Willing to grow out loud. Willing to back yourself, even on days it’s hard.

Mental fitness isn’t about getting rid of the tough stuff,  it’s about building the muscles to handle it with power, grace, and a whole lotta sass.

You’ve got this. And if you ever forget? Come back and read this again. Or send me a message, I’ll remind you how wildly capable you are.

Now go out there and start the thing. Your future self is already clapping.
